Cleaning your new tattoo
Your new tattoo is an open wound and will take 2-3 weeks to fully heal. Proper tattoo aftercare is essential to ensure both healing and the longevity of the artwork. Please follow these aftercare for tattoo instructions carefully to maintain the beauty of your tattoo.
- Remove your dressing after 2-3 days. This step is crucial for effective tattoo aftercare.
- Wash your tattoo with warm water and a mild, fragrance-free, antibacterial soap.
- Be gentle; dry the area after washing with a clean towel or kitchen roll.
- DO NOT RUB.
- Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment (available in the studio) to keep the skin moisturized. This ointment is an essential part of aftercare for tattoo healing.
- Continue applying this tattoo aftercare ointment 3-4 times a day for at least 2 weeks or until your tattoo is fully healed.

Things to avoid
- DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH your tattoo during the healing process. Picking or scratching can harm the tattoo design and interfere with your tattoo aftercare efforts.
- Avoid exposing your tattoo to sunlight, submerging it in water, or swimming until it’s completely healed. These activities impede effective aftercare for tattoo healing.
- Keep your tattoo away from sweat, dirt, and animal hair at all times.
Important Information and Tips
- For proper tattoo aftercare, avoid swimming pools, seawater, baths, direct sunlight, or sunbeds for at least 2-3 weeks.
- During the first few days, your tattoo may weep and release excess ink. Clean it frequently as part of your tattoo aftercare to prevent infection.
- Allow your tattoo to naturally scab and flake. DO NOT pick any scabs at scabs, as this can cause loss of ink and ruin your tattoo’s design.
- Use recommended aftercare for tattoo products only.
- Allow the top layer of skin to naturally flake off. This is the damaged area healing, and it is vital you allow this to shed in its own time.
- During this time, DO NOT pull, rub, or scratch the ink that is embedded in your skin. Your tattoo artist worked hard to create a permanent piece of art, and scratching will ruin the design.
- NEVER use salt water or products containing alcohol to clean your tattoo.
- Avoid excessive sweating, gym activity, or strenuous exercise.
- Avoid the use of any anti-bacterial sprays or antiseptic ointments as these may result in adverse effects.
- DO NOT let pets touch your new tattoo.
